Oil Sampling & Analysis

Oil analysis is used to understand the condition of the oil and of the machine through fluid properties, contamination and wear debris.

Sampling of the oil is actually the most crucial step in oil analysis. Without the knowledge on how to sample oil correctly, contamination of the oil sample and contamination of the oil in the machine can easily occur.

An inexperience technician may inadvertently sample stagnant or sump oil instead of the active oil.

Dusty and dirty environments pose the greatest risk of contamination of oil. Contamination can easily enter the machine when an oil port is opened if care and the appropriate contamination prevention measures are not taken. Likewise, contamination can easily enter the oil sample bottle when attaching and detaching it from the oil pump.

Increase your machine reliability by using Howler’s experienced technicians to correctly collect (without contamination ingress) your oil samples.
