Non-destructive Testing (NDT)
Non-destructive testing (NDT) in industry is mainly used for crack detection.
Howler, in conjunction with its NDT service partner, provides non-destructive crack detection using Magnetic Particle Inspection, Liquid Penetrant Inspection and Ultrasonic Inspection.
Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI or MT) is used to detect surface or near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. It is used in industry as a cost-effective surface NDT method.
Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI or LT) is a used for detection of open-to-the- surface discontinuities in non-porous materials. Although commonly used as a technique to inspect non-ferrous metals, it is also used on non-metals. It is used in industry as a sensitive-surface NDT method.
Ultrasonic Inspection (UT) is used to measure the thickness of materials, and to detect discontinuities in solid materials. It is used in industry as a reliable and sensitive NDT method.
